Religious education and the Family Rosary Crusade is sponsoring a post Valentine dinner dance on Saturday, February 15 starting at 6:30 pm in the church hall. Tickets are $10.00 per person and $5.00 for children under 12. The proceeds will be used to purchase new lighter weight tables for the church hall. Thank you, your cooperation and generosity is highly appreciated by the pastor and staff.

Notice to all ministries and groups.

If you have an event scheduled on the calendar and decide to cancel or reschedule that event , you must notify the rectory staff. This will then free up that day and time for another group. Please remember we have over 20 ministries and groups requesting space in all of our facilities. The Catholics We Need to Save the Church  Should Have Seven Characteristics:

Christ transformed the world of his generation with the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. We can transform the world of our generation with these seven characteristics, in addition to the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.

1. Discern the purpose for which your were created.

2. Totally dedicate your life to accomplish that purpose.

3. To become more like Christ each day.

4. To make the Eucharist the epicenter of you life (frequent Holy Communion, Adoration, prayer).

5. To have great devotion to Our Lady (daily ro- sary) and her son (daily Chaplet of Divine Mer- cy).

6. Make the Sacraments and Sacramentals central to your life.

7. Read and study the Sacred Scripture daily. "Those who are ignorant of scripture are ignorant of Christ." Saint Jerome From the homily of 12/8/2019 by Msgr. John B. Brady.

PAPAL Documents

authority

The weight of authority behind a teaching of the Papal Magisterium depends on the dogmatic history of the teaching and the intention of the Supreme Pontiff. Papal addresses and documents invariably contain teachings in several categories of authority. Some of these teachings will be “of the faith” (de fide), requiring the assent of Catholics by reason of the virtue of faith’s obligation to God revealing. Among such de fide teachings will be those which have been solemnly defined (such as the divinity of Christ or the Immaculate Conception of Mary), and those which, while they have not been solemnly defined, belong to the infallible ordinary Magisterium, having been taught “semper et ubique” (always and everywhere). Examples of the latter include the evil of certain sins, such as abortion or adultery, or the restriction of the priesthood to men.....

The Sunday TV Mass

Do you know someone who can't get to Mass? Since 1952 , the Archdiocese of Washington has produced a

weekly televised Mass for those who are homebound, broadcast from the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the

National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. It is a wonderful ministry for those members of our Catholic family

who are unable to be physically present with a local worshiping community for the Sunday Eucharistic Liturgy.

The Mass airs every Sunday at 10:30am on WDCW-50:

  • No cable; Dish or DIRECTV subscribers: Ch. 50
  • Comcast: Ch 23 in Washington, DC and Montgomery County: Ch. 3
    in
Prince George's County and Southern Maryland
  • RCN: Ch. 15
  • Verizon: Ch. 3

Do you know the qualifications to be a God parent?

 1) Be a registered Parishioner.  2) Have received all the sacraments of initiation.  3) Are a practicing Catholic (coming to Mass).  4) Attend a baptism preparation class.
This also applies to someone who has been asked to be a Godparent from another parish.

Admitted to the Hospital?

If you are being admitted or have been admitted to the hospital and would like to receive Communion, please contact the rectory or have a family member contact the rectory with your name, the hospital, the room number and anticipated length of stay.  This way, either a priest or extraordinary minister of Holy Communion can provide you with the sacrament.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race; the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (St. John the Evangelist, Apostle; John 1:1-5).
